Car hire discount for under 25's
At Rhino we do not think that age should determine whether you can or cannot hire a car (within reason of course!). Most car rental agents charge a young driver surcharge for any driver under the age of 25 and this can be as much as £30 per day, often making the overall cost of hiring a car out of reach, or uncompetitive with other travel options.
However, hiring a car is a fantastic way to explore beyond the beaten track, or for when your own car is off the road and public transport just will not cut it. For that reason, whilst we cannot remove the young driver supplement, we have decided to discount our standard rates by as much as 10% for our under 25 car hire customers to make the overall cost more comparable.
Can I hire a car at 21?
To hire a car in the UK, a driver must be over the age of 21 with a full and valid driving licence. The driver must have held this licence for at least 1 year and in some locations at least 2 years. In some cases, for example if a driver wishes to hire a larger or luxury vehicle, an older age/longer licence may be required. The majority of car hire companies in the UK apply an additional fee for a driver under 25. The table below shows the minimum age and fee for hiring a car in the UK:

Up to 10% discount on young driver car hire
Whether you are 21, 22, 23 or 24, hiring a car does not need to be out of reach and you can still enjoy the benefits that car hire brings without having to dig too deep. As a young driver, you will need to pay the surcharge directly to the rental agent on arrival when collecting the car and are still required to produce your driving license, of which you must have held for at least 1-2 years without any major endorsements (as with all ages).
